This is an illustration of my dog, Toby, illustrated using charcoal and pastels. A pure black Spaniel Labrador crossbreed, he had a regal profile and a quiet, stoic way of watching the world go by.

Glenveagh National Park is found in the heart of County Donegal, among the beautiful and rugged landscape of the Derryveagh Mountains. Nestled within the park is the Victorian castle and gardens, where this picturesque traditional Gardenerβs Cottage sits at the top of the kitchen garden.
This charcoal illustration depicts Curled Dock, Rumex Obtusifolius, also known as CopΓ³g Chatach in Irish. Native to Ireland, these plants and seedheads provide food and shelter for wildlife, including the small copper butterfly. Its medicinal uses include rubbing the dock leaf on a nettle sting to help ease the pain.
Dating back to the 15th century, Old Mill Cottage sits within a woodland garden in Herefordshire, accessible only by a wooden footbridge over a stream. Managed by the National Trust and let as a holiday rental, I was lucky to spend a Christmas in this picturesque setting, reading books by the inglenook fireplace.
